Initially this task was a struggle as I am still yet to determine a "tone of voice" or "style" within my work as well as a consistent process, method or use of media - therefore to complete a portrait using the methods that best represent my practice felt a little impossible. Instead i decided to lift the pressure I put on myself and focus on just doing something that I know I enjoy and haven't done in a while - and that is getting stuck in with a detailed pen and ink illustration. I am not a portrait artist, having never attempted to draw myself or anyone else for that matter therefore decided to create something more conceptual i guess - a portrait more representational of how I see myself.
Much of my inspiration stems from nature, and here the intricate yet overwhelming chaos and complexities I often face are represented by the layers upon layers of drawn elements within nature that inspire me.
