What role does value play in planning composition?
Helps tell what is going on in the image - strengthen the mood. Use "high key" / "low key" when choosing colours to relate to mood in the image.
-High key: Light, bright, positive colour palette
-Low key: Dark, gloomy, negative colour palette
How can we use values to focus our attention on certain information?
Use contrast vs harmony + balance

In studio main points and notes:
- "Value" in terms of colour means strength, light, dark, intensity of colour.
- "Notan" is the japanese concept of harmonious values. This features in many japanese images and caligraphy.

- When thinking of choosing a colour palette for an image - keep it simple/limited. Maybe choose 3/4 harmonious complimentary colours, then one contrasting "accent" colour.
