Studio Brief 2: 'Greetings From...' - Feedback and Self Evaluation

Not such a great photo of printed final postcards
Feedback

Response
I have to admit I am completely overwhelmed with such positive comments about my work. I had just assumed that everyone else would attempt similar Adobe Illustrator techniques to me, but a lot of people hadn't got on as well with the software. It feels so good to receive this feedback after putting in so much effort - it really pays off when work is received well.

A few comments focused on possible improvement mention how it isn't clear where exactly these are and that the use of texture, gradient, pattern and drop-shadow may have been overdone. I completely agree with both comments. I didn't expect everyone to know where these locations are as not a lot of people have managed to visit them, despite trying to represent each part as clearly as i could. I also feel that my use of additional textures were overused and would like to use less in the future. I admit I got carried away but I am not entirely sure if this completely lets down the set overall?

Self evaluation
This brief has been a great one for me and I am so pleased to see what I can achieve digitally. I am not used to digital media at all and have in the past preferred analogue methods entirely. Using Adobe Illustrator however, has completely opened my eyes to a whole new way of working. If planned right with solid ideas generated before hand - vector based artwork can be really effective.
I have enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the software and feel it is now a beneficial tool to use in my won work. I would like to continue to explore this software further, informing my own personal practice and see where it takes me. Clean lines are always a winner with me, especially with how well these printed - (no messy pixels).
