Idea 1: Diorama / Shadow Box Visual Experience
Window display divided into 3 (to coincide with window partitions) and help create a diverse visual experience and vary the products on display.
Each section of window a different colour palette/visual experience
Theme: Autumn
Concept: Memories of summer / transition to Autumn / Autumn stories
Content: Bringing memories in the form of Polaroids to life. Each window section is a layered diorama, building up the 3D image of the Polaroid memory.
Materials: Layers of cut illustrations created with MDF (for real installation). Made from paper/card for our mock up
Paper cut, fold and engineering to help create sense of 3D space
Decals on window to add another layer to diorama / window effect to influence what the audience sees / create even more depth in diorama experience.
Each layer illustrated and lit with a bright use of colour (in keeping with 2016 Autumn/ winter colour trends)
Colour: could incorporate gradients, light to dark, light sensitive paint, lighting/neon strips/outlines to illuminate different parts of display/ products at different times of day and capitalise on the concept of "change" and "transition"
Light could be placed cleverly so as to shine through different coloured thinner materials/paper, so as to create mood lighting of different tones and a sense of space.
*****ADD SCAMPS/ROUGH DRAWINGS FOR THIS IDEA!!!*****
Notes:
Could be one long scene ( not split up into 3)
Products placed on shelves/in relevant places in display
If display split into 3-each area could be lit differently/alternate in lighting-grabbing customers attention towards different areas of display at different times
Items linking with each scene could also be made from paper (leaves, mushrooms, flowers etc) depending on Polaroid concept
Interactive chalk board around window for people to add their tags/memories
Bring the Polaroid to life (Polaroid signifies memory)
App to upload summer/ Autumn memories as Polaroids - win a prize? Have a polaroid window for customers to take their own polaroid pics and upload?
Each window section (separated by partitions) is a diorama / 3D version of the Polaroid (with product placement)
Decal of the Polaroid format on the window in each section with a different hand type scribble / note for each. The decal would be for the white area of the Polaroid only- with the photo area left cut out - acting as a window for the audience to look through and see display.

Idea 2: Dolls House
Window display divided into 3 (to coincide with window partitions) and help create a diverse visual experience and vary the products on display.
Each section of window a different colour palette/visual experience
Theme: Autumn, Home, warmth, familiar
Concept: Dolls house sections. Rooms reflect modern twist on a dolls house, with product placement within each scene where in would appropriately go. This would make it quite easy to place products and capitalise on the relationship between product and space/environment within display.
Content: display split into 3 to work with window partitions. Each section is a different "cross section" / "slice" of a different floor/group of rooms within a dolls house. Each room/ display section could reflect different moments throughout Autumn using different colour, lighting & content.
Rooms/ floors could be made to look 3D as a physical room or layered diorama look as suggested in idea 1.
Materials: MDF for structure of real display. Paper/card structure for mock up?
Colour: different colour schemes for different rooms/sections. Like the inside of a house.
Lighting: could be used appropriately to give a sense of space, highlight various products / draw attention to different areas of display. Small areas of light could add detail to display, intricacy (light through windows, actual floor lamps/ chandeliers in display go on at different times?
Neon lighting to outline/add pops of colour and draw attention to various areas in display.
Props: extras could be made from paper/card - all illustrated with an Autumn feel.
*****ADD SCAMPS/ROUGH DRAWINGS FOR THIS IDEA!!!*****
Notes: 3 sections of dolls house-3 mini themes within display. 3 different colour palettes/patterns/lighting times etc
Could link with the 3 areas of the John Lewis product range as outlined in brief:
-fashion
-home
-electrical
Could use decals on window to create/accentuate the 3 sections to outline and influence what the customer sees, incorporating / outlining the separate colour schemes for each area etc.
Nature could still factor heavily, entwining itself around each doll house section, vines, leaves, ivy etc
Consider outside space as well....garden to dolls house? Posters plants etc

Idea 3: An Autumn Tale
Window display divided into 3 (to coincide with window partitions) and help create a diverse visual experience and vary the products on display.
Each section of window a different colour palette/visual experience
Theme: Autumn story, transition from summer to Autumn - Autumn inside and out
Concept: each section of display describes an Autumn tale/ experience. A story from left to right? Moving from inside to outside to experience Autumn. Products can be showcased for inside house as well as outside.
Content:
-Section 1: looking out the window at the changing season, leaves, trees, typical Autumn scene etc
-Section 2: inside the house getting ready to go outside for a walk in Autumn (warm fire, coat stand, wellies, scarves)
-Section 3: outside the house (piles of leaves, Autumn feel, autumn walk/experience, trees, park, Autumn in the garden, windy etc)
Each section could be separated by its content as well as colour etc to coincide with the window partitions
Lights could illuminate each stage of the "Autumn journey" subtly - (1st section, then second, then 3rd) guiding audience through journey and whole of display
Capitalise on change & transition, change in season - what new season brings
Materials: MDF for main, paper/card for mock up
Could be 3 individual scenes made up as layered illustrations / diorama idea or could have elements for each scene made from paper/card/MDF.
Doorways/think about visual transition between each section. A merging of colours? Literally paint each section a different colour palette to separate?
Products placed where appropriate to each scene - inside house: electronics & home...outside: fashion?
*****ADD SCAMPS/ROUGH DRAWINGS FOR THIS IDEA!!!*****
Notes:
Could be for any autumn journey - not just from inside to outside but could be 1 long display for a long walk for example.
Change in season from left to right - change in landscape/nature/experience that the customer goes through when looking at display?
Needs to work from left to right as well as right to left. Each section needs to work well on its own at any one time.
For all ideas decals could be made and added to window facing outwards to help with overall design concept feel.
Use lighting in creative ways: add colour, depth, interest, sectioning of display, lighting for low lit location of shop front, different lighting for nightie display?
Props, backdrops, objects in and amongst the products being showcased can be illustrated/painted/cut/folded - handmade to help create the atmosphere and interesting aesthetic
