Make lists regarding these 3 areas of illustration context that interest me:
Chosen Context Focus
- Object and environment
- Product and packaging
(possible contexts) -everything crosses over into one-another in a way
-Character and narrative
-Publishing and book design
-Education
Ian and I joined forces for this studio task and began researching into the context area of "Object & Environment". This is actually an area of context in which I hope to aim a lot of my artwork. I am really inspired by the 3D possibilities within illustration, the placement of artwork and how the "experience" impacts on the audience and the messages within the creative work being conveyed.
With this in mind - I already have a bunch of creative practitioners fitting the "object & environment" bill - as well as cool examples of creative work to hand which I feel would be a good starting point for this research task and for others to benefit from knowing about. Within the time allocated I was able to put together the following boards:

Some favourite practitioners adopting the "Object & Environment" context and application of their creative work:
Mr Finch
Felt Mistress
Reka One
Rob Ryan
Hattie Newman
Yulia Brodskaya

Session sheets regarding the context and application of final resolutions (great possible areas to consider when undergoing my work for this module.)

I also wanted to try and "define" this area of context academically to gain a better understanding of its placement within the creative industry and how I (and others) may be apple to apply their work:Define "Object":

After finishing this first research collecting half of the session - I found the next half really beneficial. Collating everyones findings and moving around the studio tables to see what everyone had managed to come up with by way of research into the other area of contexts was great - and I feel I could easily choose the area which best suits me for this module based on the visual references now at hand. Working together as a full class for this project meant that there were many possible starting points for everyone and investigating them in depth this way as a collective - made me finally feel on par with everyone else. Everyone is able to have the same starting point for this project and I learnt a lot from the session overall.Session sheets regarding the context and application of final resolutions (great possible areas to consider when undergoing my work for this module.)
