OUIL505: Leeds List Research

It was suggested to me that I should maybe look int Leeds as a city and dig further into possible strange finds / living organisms that grow here - that people wouldn't think of or notice.

In my research I found this interesting article -

http://leeds-list.com/culture/things-you-probably-dont-know-about-leeds/

The Leeds Hippo LEEDS HAD HIPPOS!!!!!!!!! like...hang-on... WHAT!? HOW!?

*currently using all my available will power to stop myself from turning this module into a project about Leeds Hippos*

I like the idea of attempting to communicate and educate the people of leeds on things that they may not know about...but its difficult to know what would work conceptually and as a visual outcome for this module. Time to get thinking some more!

Fun facts from the article:

  • The Blackburn Type D is the oldest flying aeroplane in Britain and it was made in Leeds
  • The most expensive piece of furniture ever sold in the briish isles was made in Leeds
  • Waddington’s the boardgames makers who invented cludo were based in Leeds
  • Marks & Spencers origin as a penny bazzar started in leeds
  • Jelly tots were invented in Leeds!!
