Whilst researching into 1960's music and possible soundtracks to be used for my 15 second sting, i have found that a lot of music tracks from 1960's Italy, the time in which Calvino was at the height of his writing career, are sang by women. I think this links in quite well with my chosen novel of his that I am visually responding too. All of the cities within 'Invisible Cities" are named after women. Each of the cities have feminine names and are visited by a man. This may link to the music of the time in which Calvino wrote his novel and what he would have been listening too at this time.
This is something to consider when choosing my final soundtrack for my animated sting. I wan the music to be light-hearted and easy listening, letting the visuals speak for themselves. This is a case with most of the music I have come across in my research, now i just have to make a decision and see how it will fit within my animation
